50K people rescued by Assam Rifles in Manipur violence

Assam Rifles have played critical role in the ongoing Manipur violence especially for those who were displaced from the state. Since May 3, the situation in the state has worsened. According to the sources, the Assam Rifles has evacuated over 50,000 displaced people from various communities in the state. The security forces gave the displaced people relief providing them with safe passage, food, shelter, medicines. Also, Assam Rifles was the first responder in the wake of the ethnic violence triggered in Manipur. And from the beginning the force has been actively involved in managing the simmering situation.

Assam CM announced about construction of underwater railroad

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has recently announced about constructed of underwater railroad tunnel across Brahmaputra River in Assam. Five arrested involved in drugs peddling, Assam

On Friday, Assam Police seized narcotics worth at least Rs 25 crore in the international market. Police also arrested five persons on charges of drugs peddling. The five arrested persons were identified as Talab Hussain, Tahir Ahmed and Khalid Hussain, residents of Patharkandi in Assam and Nitai Sarkar and Nitu Sarka from Tripura. Earlier, Police was informed about drugs was being peddled through the Karimganj district. Acting on the information, a team from Karimganj police was deployed in the Bazarichera area. Soon the team arrested the drugs peddlers and seized their vehicle too.

Manipur violence; Assam rifles additional troops

The Assam Rifles has moved additional troops to secure a bridge on a national highway in south Manipur in the district of the violence-hit state. As per reports, Meitei insurgent groups who were planning to damage the bridge at Sinzawl on NH102 B, which connects Manipur with neighboring Mizoram. Since the day of the violence, May 3 more than 100 people have been killed and more than 50,000 people from both Kuki and Meitei communities have been displaced.
