Assam CM announced about construction of underwater railroad

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has recently announced about constructed of underwater railroad tunnel across Brahmaputra River in Assam. Assam's first underwater railroad tunnel will be built between Numaligarh and Gohpur. The project will cost around Rs 6,000 crore. The tender for the project will open on July 4 and is expected that construction of the tunnel will start during the tenure of the current CM and will be around 35 kilometres long. Five arrested involved in drugs peddling, Assam

On Friday, Assam Police seized narcotics worth at least Rs 25 crore in the international market. Police also arrested five persons on charges of drugs peddling. The five arrested persons were identified as Talab Hussain, Tahir Ahmed and Khalid Hussain, residents of Patharkandi in Assam and Nitai Sarkar and Nitu Sarka from Tripura. On Monday, flood condition in Assam increases affecting more villages in number than before including villages, towns and farmlands. According to the sources, the India Meteorological Department has issued a 'Red Alert' and predicted 'very heavy' to 'extremely heavy' rainfall across several districts of Assam till Thursday.
