Child marriage operation begins in the state, 5 arrested

On Thursday, 15 people from Hailakandi district were arrested allegedly for preparing fake documents to conduct child marriage. As per reports, the news came into light after an operation was launched in different parts of the district for conducting child marriages. The arrested one are identified as Panchgram, Katlicherra, Algapur, Lala, Ramnathpur and Bilaipur areas of the district, Hailankandi. As per sources, these accused could not provide essential evidence for the marriages. Also the arrested one are about to produce in the court for fake documents and conducting marriage illegally.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as earlier promised to remove Armed Force Special Power Act (AFSPA) from the state, Assam completely.
