On Wednesday, the Supreme Court announced about the hearing of Section 6A of the Citizenship Act relating to illegal immigrants in Assam. According to the announcement, the Supreme Court will commence its hearing on October 17. About the Section 6A in the Citizenship Act was inserted as a special provision to deal with the citizenship of people covered by the Assam Accord. Ahead of Puja, people consuming prasad fell ill

A report came into sources; over 100 people have been suffering from food poisoning after consuming Prasad ahead of puja in Lakhimpur district, Assam. An official report stated, "They consumed prasad at a namghar (a place of worship) after a programme, following which they complained of loose motion, vomiting and stomach ache.” To reports, total number of 110 people fell ill and is being treated at the local civil hospital at Dhakuakhana, while one has been referred to Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital for advanced care.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Jogen Mohan has updated as per available data about the flood affected people and area of the state, Assam. According to the reports, over 12, 95, 642 people have been affected by the flood hazard, along with, more than 23,000 houses in 3,335 villages in 109 revenue circles in the state. The minister also updated 1,106 roads have been damaged under the public works department, with 101 bridges.
