Over 15,000 Online Police Complaints Received During Lockdown.

A total of 15,299 police complaints were received online from across the State during the lockdown, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) statistics reveal. Of these, action was taken on 85% complaints, the police claimed. Among other cities, Chennai city police topped the list with 2,370 complaints. During the lockdown, the police encouraged the public to lodge complaints online. In 2019, the police received 1,28,596 online complaints across the State. Two Killed as under Construction Well in Malappuram caves.

Two labourers died after a well under construction caved in on them here in Malappuram district on Friday. The deceased were identified as Tanur Mukkola natives Velayudhan (63) and Achutan (63). Velayudhan and Achuthan were in the well when the tragedy took place. The well caved in and large chunk of soil fell on them and buried them alive. The police and Fire and Rescue Services personnel joined hands with the local people to remove the soil with an earth mover. The bodies could be retrieved after a few hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Friday, said that the low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea may concentrate into a depression over the next 24 hours and is likely to intensify even further. A Couple Commits Suicide.

A couple ended their life by consuming pesticide at D. Dharmara village in Ramayampet mandal on late Thursday night. According to Sub- Inspector B Mahender, one M. Vijaya Kumar Reddy and Ruchita loved each other and got married, they had two children. However, Mr. Reddy’s parents did not like it and constantly heckled them. Unable to cope with it the couple decided to end their life. Police registered a case and are investigating. The sources also said that the harassment threats given by man's father was also too brutal.
