A Delhi court Thursday sent former JNU student leader Umar Khalid, arrested under the stringent anti-terror law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, in a case related to the communal violence in north east Delhi in February, to judicial custody till October 22. Mr. Khalid was present before Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat through video conferencing at the end of his police custody. Telangana : ACB unearths Rs 70 crore illegal assets of Malkajgiri ACP.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Wednesday registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against Malkajgiri ACP Yelmakuri Narasimha Reddy after unearthing assets worth at least Rs 70 crore in market value, during searches at 25 properties linked to him across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The ACB said it carried out simultaneous search at 25 locations in Hyderabad and other towns in Telangana and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh following reliable information that the ACP acquired assets disproportionate to his lawful sources of income by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means. The hanging body of a 9th class student was recovered from Jalpaiguri

A 9th grader was found hanging from a noose in the Pilkhana Colony area under Ward No. 09 of the Jalpaiguri Municipality. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Das, a student at the Jalpaiguri Sonali Girls High School.
