Forest dept seizes Channa Barca fish from Dibrugarh airport, Assam

At Dibrugarh Airport, Assam Forest Department seized around 500 ‘Channa Barca’ fish which is unique and endangered worth Rs. 4.5 crore which was smuggled to Kolkata. The Forest Department cited that, Channa Barca are protected under Schedule 2 of the Wildlife Protection Act. Further, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the fish was classified as severely endangered in 2014 in Bangladesh. To reports, officials will soon release the fish in the river again.

An Assam native was arrested by Kerala police for allegedly raping a 52 year old woman belongs from Alappuzha district.
