This the second straight day that India has reported over 4 lakh cases. Last week, the country had hit a grim global record as daily cases passed the 4 lakh mark in a first. More than 2.34 lakh people have died since the pandemic broke. Earlier this week, India's overall cases breached the two-crore mark. India expanded the vaccination drive to all adults above 18 last week even as many states flagged shortage. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the pace of vaccination should not be slowed down.

Delhi police arrested three persons for selling fire extinguishers painted as oxygen cylinders. The accused are Ravi Sharma (40), Mohammad Abdul (38), and Shambhu Shah (30). UP on Wednesday recorded the biggest single-day jump of 357 Covid-19 deaths that took the toll to 14,151 while 31,165 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 13,99,294.
