Gunfire at J-K, foreign terrorist got killed

A gunfight broke out between terrorists and security forces at Sudpora in Karnah sector along the Line of Control. According to sources, security forces foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district in which a foreign terrorist was killed in an exchange of fire. Cyclone Sitrang affected 83 villages in Assam

Cyclone Sitrang has damaged several houses in Assam due to heavy rains and storm surge. About 1100 people in 83 villages of Assam have been affected by the flood. According to reports, 325.501 hectares of crops were damaged by uprooting of numerous trees and electric poles in some parts of Assam. Several houses were damaged in Kaliabor, Bamuni, Sakmuthia Tea Garden and Boraligaon areas of Central Assam district due to the storm.

Museum “Miya” of Assam got sealed

The 'Mia Museum', set up in a house allotted under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in Assam's Goalpara district, was sealed just two days after its opening. It was inaugurated on Sunday and notified to close on Tuesday. According to sources, the museum was set up in a PMAY house and closed after protests by BJP leaders over inauthentic display of objects belonging to the 'Miya' community. An elephant dies in Assam

A wild elephant was electrocuted near the Napuk tea plantation in Assam's Charideo district. The incident took place on Friday, the elephant died after coming in contact with a live electrical wire. There have been many elephant incidents in Assam so far and the death toll is continuously rising.

Assam Police recovers demonetized notes from District Transport Officer

The vigilance wing of the Assam Police recovered Rs 87,000 worth of canceled notes after raiding the house of a District Transport Officer (DTO) on October 21. The state's Special Director-General of Police, Gyanendra Pratap Singh, said that the vigilance wing has launched a drive against alleged corruption in Dibrugarh DTO. "Sanjeev Hazarika's house was searched and unaccounted cash of ₹7.03 lakh and canceled notes of ₹87,000 were found," he said.

Another suicide attempt at IIT, kharagpur

Assam third year student found in IIT Kharagpur hostel, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma has written a letter to Mamata Banerjee seeking a detailed investigation into the matter. Authorities broke the bolted door and found the body in his hostel room. This is the second death of an IIT student in a week. The 20-year-old fifth-year BTech student of IIT Guwahati committed suicide and was found hanging in his room on October 10. In his letter, Sarma sought Banerjee's intervention for a thorough investigation into the death of Faizan Ahmed, a student of IIT Kharagpur in Tinsukia, Assam.
