Supreme Court Notice to Assam Government

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Assam government on a petition against the Gauhati High Court on state-run madrassas. According to the report, the High Court observed that madrasas being maintained by the state through provincialization are affected by Article 28(1) of the Constitution and therefore cannot be allowed to impart religious instruction. The High Court observed this and according to the petition, it is limited only to the State undertaking to administer, manage and control these madrassas besides paying salaries and consequent benefits to the teaching and non-teaching staff employed in the madrassas. General Assam Rifles arrested four people

Inspector General Assam Rifles' Lunglei Battalion (East) arrested four people after recovering a huge cache of tactical and war-like stores. The incident happened on October 30 near Tuipang village in Siaha district of Mizoram. “This operation is a huge blow to all anti-national activities. Infrastructural development for Assam schools

On Sunday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said that around 4,000 government institutes in the state would witness infrastructural improvements in the next five years. Sarma said the state government has taken a massive step to improve the infrastructure of 1,000 high and higher secondary schools across the state. Swedish National arrested in Assam

Three Swedish preachers have been arrested for violating visa norms and proselytizing Christians in Naharkatiya in Assam's Dibrugarh district. According to sources, it is learned that the Swedish nationals are being deported to Stockholm by Qatar Airways, after being fined USD 500 each for violating visa rules. Three Swedish preachers viz. Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute to support armed forces in Northeast

A Memorandum of Association (MoA) was signed with Dr B Boroh Cancer Institute, Guwahati on 26 October to provide medical facilities to the beneficiaries of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). This effort could benefit around 115,000 armed forces across the Northeast region. ECHS Scheme aims to provide allopathic and AYUSH treatment across the country to Ex-Servicemen pensioners and their dependents through a network of ECHS polyclinics, service medical facilities, government hospitals, private hospitals/designated government and AYUSH hospitals.
