Eighteen labourers were crushed to death after a truck rammed into a double-decker bus on the Lucknow-Ayodhya National Highway under the Ram Sanehighat police circle in Barabanki. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has informed the Supreme Court that over 75,000 children have either lost one parent or became an orphan during the Covid-19 pandemic and are in need of care and protection. Vedanta’s net profit zooms to Rs 4,280 cr for Q1FY22

Vedanta’s consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30 of the current financial year (2021-22) rose exponentially on a year-on-year basis. After taxes, the consolidated net profit of the natural resources company, non-controlling interests, and share in the profit of jointly controlled entities and associates but before exceptional items rose to Rs 4,280 crore. Besides, the profits attributable to owners of Vedanta rose to Rs 4,224 crore from Rs 1,033 crore reported for Q1FY21.
