On April 16, the Indian Ambassador to China, Vikram Misri, tweeted that 650,000 kits, including Rapid Antibody Tests and RNA Extraction Kits had been despatched to India as The Government of India through the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had ordered five lakh rapid antibody test kits from Chinese firm Wondfo on March 27. The COVID-19 test kits were sold to the Indian Government at an inflated price by an Indian distributor named Real Metabolics, it has emerged from a legal dispute between the distributor and the importer that went to the Delhi High Court.

In Delhi a second hospital has been sealed in 24 hours after 44 staff including doctors were found infected with coronavirus, as said by the officials. Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital in north-west Delhi's Jahangirpuri will remain sealed until building has been completely sanitised, officials said. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country increased by six per cent during a 24-hour period starting 8 am Friday, the government said this morning.
