More than 300 Parliament staffers tested positive for Covid-19 between January 9 and 12, according to sources. Earlier till January 9, more than 400 of them had tested positive during random testing. “Till now, about 718 Parliament staffers have fallen prey to the virus. Of the total, 204 are from the Rajya Sabha secretariat while the remaining are from the Lok Sabha secretariat and allied services,” the sources said. India records 1,79,723 cases of COVID, 146 deaths

India witnessed single-day rise of 1,79,723 covid  cases taking the total toll to 3,57,07,727, including 4,033 cases of the Omicron variant reported across 27 states and union territories, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Monday. The number of active cases has increased to 7,23,619, the highest, while the death toll has climbed to 4,83,936 with 146 fatalities, the data updated later stated.
