The death rate in the Hooch tragedy in Saran district of Bihar has jumped up to 70 which is the highest in the last 6 years. Inspite of the strict rules and regulations against the consumption of alcohol, the system has not been successful in keeping a check on the illegal manufacture and sale of spurious liquor, which is easy to make and sold at cheaper prices.
