May 7 declared as holiday for Assam

Ahead of Lok Sabha polling third phase in Assam constituencies Assam Government has announced May 7 as public holiday on parts of the state. To notice said, all the Government/non-Government Offices, PRIs, urban local bodies, educational institutions, business and banks, tea gardens and industries, etc will remain close on May 7. Also the holiday is declared for Guwahati, Kokrajhar (ST), Dhubri and Barpeta only.

For safety, Orang National park to get closed by May

The authorities of Orang National Park has issued a statement regarding closure of Jeep and elephant safari the park from May 15 for visitors and tourists as well. According to the sources, each tourism year the parks of Assam are remained closed during monsoon season to heavy rainfall in the region. Election campaign: Ajmal vows to reopen madrassas in Assam

The Assam Government has banned madrassas and turned into general schools in Assam. AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has promised to go against the decision of the government. During an election campaign he said that he will move to the Supreme Court to grant reopening of the closed madrassas in Assam. Around 1,281 madrassas were converted to schools. He said, "UP government announced the closure of madrasas and later, the Supreme Court condemned them. With this reference, we will go to the Supreme Court and get the order from there."

Assam men receives ‘Padma Shri’ for agriculture & dance

Assam authorities steps out to honour 105 years old woman

An old women named Ramati Baishya who is 105 years old was honoured by the authorities of central Assam’s Kamrup district on April 14, which is first day of Assamese year and Rogali Bihu of Assam. Oil India Pvt Limited under investigation, Assam

Oil India Private Limited at Dighaltarang Tea Estate in the Tinsukia District of Assam has recently reported leakage in the x-mass tree assembly on top of a crude oil well. According to the sources, immediate actions were taken as soon as the situation took place at site. As a precautionary measure, the fire service was mobilized and kept on standby.
