Hundreds of Candidates Lose Security Deposit in Assam Polls

A total of 455 out of the 722 candidates who contested the recent Assam Legislative Assembly election forfeited their security deposits after failing to secure the required number of votes. Among them were four candidates from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 18 from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), 10 each from Indian National Congress and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), 16 from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), and seven from United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
