GUWAHATI: Assam Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on his Twitter handle mentioned that state's recovery rate has gone up by 63.2 percent.Meanwhile, in the last 48 hours, 15,000 samples were tested. The total number of samples tested thus far is 2,88,677, the Minister stated.Currently, Assam's COVID-19 positive cases stand at 5,586 of which 3,404 patients have recovered with 2,170 active cases and 9 deaths recorded.

A massive fire has engulfed a natural-gas producing well of Oil India Limited (OIL) in upper Assam's Tinsukia district, that has been leaking gas for the last 14 days. Smoke from the fire, that began this afternoon, can reportedly be seen from 10 km away and locals claim it has spread to nearby villages.
