Guardians to complete admission process

Students who passed Madhyamik 2020 have been advised not to physically participate in the process of admission to Class XI. Their guardians will have to complete the formalities, education minister Partha Chatterjee said. Around 86.34 per cent of the examinees passed Madhyamik 2020, the results of which were declared on Wednesday. “The highest ever,” board president Kalyanmoy Ganguly said, referring to the percentage of the students who passed. Over one lakh Indians have returned home from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh by land borders as part of the central government's 'Vande Bharat' Mission operationalised to evacuate stranded citizens from foreign countries amid the coronavirus-infused lockdown, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Thursday. "As of July 15, 6,87,467 Indian nationals have returned to India; 1,01,014 nationals have returned from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh by land borders," MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said in a weekly briefing. India Tally Crosses 9.68 Lakh-mark

India recorded a total of 32,695 cases of coronavirus infections in a single day for the first time. Total number of cases 9,68,876 on Thursday, while the death toll climbed to 24,915 with 606 people succumbing to the disease, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The number of recoveries stands at 6,12,814, while there are 3,31,146 active cases of coronavirus infection presently in the country. 5 more deaths in Assam floods

According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 3,218 villages and localities in 27 of the state’s 33 districts are still affected by flooding on Assam. Nearly 4 million people continued to be affected by floods in Assam on Thursday, which saw five more deaths due to drowning-taking the tally this season to 71.
