Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom inaugurated RIDF project, Horti link road and NMISF Agri project at Etayongsho and Chichemleiven villages on January 28. Teachers of government colleges in Manipur on Thursday staged a sit-in-protest to resume their suspended agitations demanding implementation of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018. The teachers’ strike, however, did not affect normal classes as they announced continuing taking classes even as they resumed the agitation in consideration of  the interest of the students attending classes with the reopening of schools and colleges from Wednesday. “We will continue conducting classes during the agitation considering the interest of the students appearing in the semester exams to be commenced from coming April,” FEGOCTA general secretary Dr N Somerendro said. Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang on Monday inaugurated the first of its kind ‘Child Empowerment Centre’ at Poklok in Denchung. The centre has been set up by Social Justice and Welfare Department under Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Northeast Now reported. The project was supported by the State Institute of Rural Department and Panchayati Raj (SIRDPR), Rural Development Department, Government of Sikkim. The Centre has been funded under Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), Ministry of Panchayati Raj. This centre is one of the first in the country and aims at protecting the rights of the child.
