West Bengal government on Wednesday issued a fresh list for the biweekly lockdown in the state. The state government earlier announced complete lockdown in the state for two days every week till the end of August. To prevent the spread of coronavirus spread in the eastern state, Mamata Banerjee-led government implemented partial lockdown since July. "Several requests and appeals have been received from different quarters to relax complete lockdown on certain dates which are coinciding with some festivals and local community based customs," the state government said in a statement on Wednesday.

A 22-year-old medical student ended his life by jumping off the roof of a hostel in All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday evening here, police said. The 2018 batch MBBS student, who hailed from Bangalore, was admitted in the psychiatry ward of the hospital and was undergoing treatment for some mental health problem.He had taken an hours' break from the ward. A 20-year-old woman from Greater Noida's Dadri, who was pursuing her higher studies in the United States, died after her two-wheeler met with an accident in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. Former President Pranab Mukherjee continues to remain critical and is on ventilator support, the Army's Research and Referral (R&R) hospital said on Tuesday, a day after he underwent a brain surgery.The 84-year-old was admitted to the military hospital around noon on Monday, and had also tested positive for Covid-19 prior to the surgery.
