Axis Max Life opens FY27 with stronger growth and profitability

Axis Max Life Insurance Ltd reported a strong first-quarter performance for FY27, with Individual Adjusted First Year Premium rising 17% year-on-year to ₹1,810 crore and private market share improving 13 basis points to 10.1%. Total APE grew 15% to ₹1,922 crore, while Value of New Business (VNB) jumped 33% to ₹446 crore. New Business Margin expanded 315 basis points to 23.2%.

Renewal premium increased 20% to ₹4,639 crore, taking Gross Written Premium up 19% to ₹7,607 crore. Individual new business sum assured grew 32%, while policies rose 12% to 1.87 lakh. AUM crossed ₹2 lakh crore at ₹2,02,621crore, up 11%, and Embedded Value rose 15% to ₹30,415 crore. Operating RoEV stood at 14.9%, while solvency remained strong at 198%.

The company’s proprietary-channel APE grew 15%, led by a 27% rise in online business, while partnership channels increased 16%. Group Credit Life expanded 57%, Protection and Health 44%, led by 57% rider growth, and Annuity business surged 116%.

The results highlight the potential for deeper insurance penetration in emerging Northeast markets such as Itanagar. Axis Max Life’s emphasis on digital distribution, protection, health and retirement products could support wider access among urban, salaried and self-employed customers in Arunachal Pradesh. The company’s branch network and digital channels can further strengthen customer reach.

At the parent level, Max Financial Services reported consolidated revenue excluding investment income of ₹7,289 crore, up 18%, while consolidated PAT rose 37% to ₹118 crore.
