Following a resounding victory in the 2026 Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is preparing for a historic third consecutive term in Assam. Caretaker Chief Minister and CM-elect Himanta Biswa Sarma has indicated that the new state cabinet is expected to consist of 18 to 19 ministers. This announcement comes as the state gears up for the grand swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, Guwahati.
