Delayed school building work irks KASU: Nagaland

Jailed rights activist Akhil Gogoi on Monday submitted nomination papers for the Sivasagar and Mariani Assembly constituencies from the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH). Gogoi is the president of Raijor Dal, a new regional party formed almost at the same time as its ally, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) six months ago. An election team collected Gogoi’s papers from the hospital where he filed his nominations to the returning officers via video-conference. At least four persons were injured in alleged clashes between two groups in Bhainsa, a town in Telangana’s Nirmal district, on Sunday evening. The violence took place at Zulfiqar mosque in the town at around 8.45 p.m. Telangana Police imposed a curfew in Bhainsa area on Monday and took nearly 100 people into custody for questioning after late-night clashes between two groups left at least 10 people, including three policemen and a journalist, injured.
