Majority of Assam students who were enrolled at Sikkim-Manipal University, where the students were stranded in the flood-hit caused in Sikkim recently. Earlier, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that two senior officers were sent to Sikkim to oversee the evacuation of 160 students from Rangpo and Majitar. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government and the Army wanted a complete withdrawal of the controversial law but the Centre took a 'cautious' approach by continuing it in some areas. Financial support towards 1,181 surrendered cadres from Adivasi militant

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a programme held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra International Auditorium distributed fix deposit certificate of Rs 47 crore to Adivasi militants in Assam on Sunday.
