Congress stages protest due to power hike in Assam

The state government has hiked electricity tariff across the state, Assam. Following the hike there have been number of organizations in the state came out to protest against the hiking.

Similarly, Assam Congress has also staged protest in the state against power hike and accused the state government for making common people’s life miserable. Along with it, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has assured that the Congress will provide at least 200 units of free electricity to the people after it comes into power and will not let anyone accumulate wealth by strangulating the public.

Further, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, “The information regarding the pricing increase for power was incorrect. Electricity prices for household users who use up to 300 units per month remain unchanged. Consumers who use more than 300 units and up to 500 units per month must pay 20 paise per unit more.”
