Assam students stuck in Sikkim flood brought back safely

Majority of Assam students who were enrolled at Sikkim-Manipal University, where the students were stranded in the flood-hit caused in Sikkim recently. Earlier, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that two senior officers were sent to Sikkim to oversee the evacuation of 160 students from Rangpo and Majitar.

To its new update, the students from Assam are now evacuated and brought back to the state, Assam safely the operation was led by Assam Government.

According to the sources, the students were brought to the state from Sikkim on six Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) buses, which had to take an alternative route as the highway was still cut off.

Assam education minister Ranoj Pegu informed, “All the students from Assam stranded in Sikkim due to the natural disaster have reached Guwahati safely. I received them at Hotel Radisson Blu and welcomed them home this morning.”
