Assam requests Army and Air Force to be on standby as flood situation worsens

As the flood situation has worsened in Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat districts, the Assam government has requests Indian Army and Air Force to be on standby for any possible evacuation and rescue operations.
This was announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through a social media post on Sunday evening.
“I have also directed my colleagues, Ajanta Neog, Bimal Bora, Keshab Mahanta and Sushanta Borgohain to immediately reach the affected areas, supervise relief efforts and ensure that every affected family receives timely assistance,” he said.
CM Sarma said the safety and well-being of the people is his government’s highest priority and he is personally monitoring the situation round the clock.
“We will take every necessary step to protect lives and provide all possible relief,” he added.
