Assam Judicial Staff Launch Mass Walkout

Members of the All Assam Judicial Employees’ Association initiated a two-day strike at Sivasagar District Court to demand the implementation of overdue service-related benefits. The protest is in response to the alleged non-fulfillment of the Supreme Court’s October 7, 2009, order from Writ Petition, following the Shetty Commission’s recommendations, alongside other service-related demands.

The All Assam Judicial Employees’ Association initiated a two-day statewide strike on Wednesday to address numerous longstanding issues and grievances. This action has seen judicial employees from courts across Assam participating, significantly disrupting court operations. Important judicial proceedings and administrative tasks have been adversely affected, resulting in delays and causing substantial inconvenience to litigants, lawyers, and the public accessing the courts.
