The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has unveiled Vision 2032, a roadmap for 2027-2032 aimed at strengthening trust and self-regulation across India’s rapidly evolving advertising ecosystem. The announcement was made at ASCI’s 40th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.
Under the roadmap, ASCI Academy plans to establish three Centres of Excellence over the next 12-15 months covering legal and regulatory policy, responsible artificial intelligence (AI) innovation in advertising, and creator excellence and trust. The initiatives will address emerging challenges linked to AI-generated claims, synthetic media, personalised communication, influencer marketing, retail media and new digital formats.
ASCI said the Legal and Policy Forum will bring together industry, regulators, legal experts, academics and consumer voices, while the responsible AI centre will develop guidance and research on emerging technologies. The creator-focused centre will work on professional standards, training, certification, disclosure and compliance.
Sudhanshu Vats has been reappointed as ASCI chairman, while S Subramanyeswar will continue as vice-chairman and Paritosh Joshi as honorary treasurer. Vats said the three Centres of Excellence would help expand ASCI’s capabilities in line with the pace of change in advertising.
In Kolkata, the growing use of digital advertising, creators and personalised communication is likely to make transparency, disclosure and responsible use of AI increasingly relevant for brands and agencies operating in the city.
ASCI Academy will also pursue a Trust in Advertising Index, training programmes, research partnerships, consumer education and its ASCI AdTrust IP, while its complaints division continues consumer-led and suomotu monitoring, including exploration of AI technologies to strengthen surveillance.
