AI-led MyUPI expands BHIM’s digital payments support and transaction controls

NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has introduced MyUPI, a conversational AI-powered assistant on the BHIM Payments App, adding a broader set of support, transaction-management and safety tools to the digital payments platform.

Launched by NPCI at Global Fintech Fest 2026, MyUPI provides 24/7 assistance in English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Bengali, with additional regional languages planned. The service consolidates several UPI-related functions within the BHIM app, potentially reducing the need for users to access multiple support channels for routine transaction and complaint-related requirements.

MyUPI enables users to view transaction histories across linked bank accounts and UPI applications, raise and track eligible complaints, and manage recurring UPI Autopay mandates. Users can pause, resume or cancel applicable mandates and identify debits made through mandates without a UPI PIN prompt.

The platform’s Pay Safe feature allows users to verify payee names through a UPI ID or QR code before payment. Eligible P2P and P2M transactions can also be re-initiated, including those originally made through another UPI app, subject to fresh UPI PIN authentication.

Other controls include UPI Number de-linking, a Safety Switch to block linked bank accounts during suspected compromise, and fraud-awareness assistance covering scam messages and commonly reported UPI fraud methods.

NBSL MD and CEO Lalitha Nataraj said the initiative is intended to strengthen trust and improve accessibility in digital payments.
