The Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan aimed at strengthening the delivery of government welfare schemes and addressing public grievances in tribal areas was officially launched in Kamrup district on May 18. The campaign will continue till May 25 across different parts of the district.The launch programme was held at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s office at Amingaon and was chaired by District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra. Boko-Chaygaon MLA Raju Mesh attended the programme along with several senior district officials. Among those present were Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Siddharth Goswami, District Development Commissioner Sushanta Kumar Dutta, Additional Deputy Commissioners Geetashri Lachit, Aditya Gogoi and Monika Buragohain, besides other departmental officers and officials.
Officials said the campaign has been launched to improve awareness and access to various government schemes among tribal communities living in remote and rural areas of the district. The initiative will focus on ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of welfare programmes while also creating a direct platform for people to raise their concerns and grievances before the administration. As part of the campaign, the district administration will organise awareness drives, entitlement distribution programmes, village immersion activities, health screening camps and Jan Sunwai camps in different locations. The programme will also include documentation work and debriefing sessions to review the implementation process and identify areas requiring improvement.
Speaking during the programme, District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra said that Adi Sewa Kendras would play an important role in ensuring smooth outreach and coordination during the week-long campaign. He said feedback collected from beneficiaries would help the administration identify gaps in implementation and improve the delivery of services in tribal areas.Officials informed that Kamrup district currently has 62 Adi Sewa Kendras covering several villages across different regions. Out of these, 47 centres are located in Boko, 11 in Bongaon, three in Bezera and one in Sualkuchi.
