Getting access to your Aadhaar Card is now more convenient, as the document can be obtained through WhatsApp using the Government of India’s MyGov Helpdesk. The service can be useful when you need your Aadhaar but do not have the original document with you, as it removes the need to visit the UIDAI website and follow the usual download process.
To begin, save the MyGov Helpdesk WhatsApp number, +919013151515, to your phone’s contacts. Open WhatsApp and send “Hi” or “Namaste” to the saved number. MyGov will then send an automated response with two options, COWIN Services and DigiLocker Services. Select DigiLocker Services to proceed with accessing your Aadhaar.
You will then be asked to confirm your DigiLocker account. If you do not have a DigiLocker account, you will need to create one before continuing. After confirming the account, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number when prompted.
An OTP will be sent to the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar. Enter the OTP to complete the verification process. Once the OTP has been successfully verified, the documents linked to your DigiLocker account will be displayed. Select your Aadhaar Card from the list, and the document will then be available for download through WhatsApp.
