27 Kg Cannabis and Rs 16 Lakh Cash Recovered in Baihata Chariali; Two Detained

Police seized 27 kg of cannabis and Rs 16 lakh in cash during an operation at Agdala village under Baihata Chariali in Assam, officials said on September 1. Two people were detained in connection with the recovery.

According to the information available, the seizure was made during a police operation at a residence in Agdala village. The house reportedly belongs to a person identified as Gautam Sarma.

During the operation, police recovered 27 kg of cannabis along with cash amounting to Rs 16 lakh. Both the suspected contraband and the cash were taken into custody for further investigation.

Two people were also detained following the recovery. Police have not yet released further details about their identities or their specific roles in the case.

Investigators are now working to establish the source of the cannabis and determine the purpose and possible origin of the cash recovered from the house. The circumstances that led police to the residence and the nature of the suspected illegal activity are also being examined.
