Sri Aurobindo Society’s Rupantar, in partnership with Zuventus Healthcare Limited, has introduced Project Inclusion (PI) along with AuroScholar and Project-Based Learning (PBL) in 15 government schools of Pakyong district. The initiative marks a milestone in creating classrooms that support neurodiverse learners while strengthening foundational skills.
Under Project Inclusion, 197 teachers enrolled in inclusive education training, with 95 completing the course. Teachers have already identified 35 neurodiverse students and designed 57 personalized intervention plans to meet their needs. This approach, aligned with the National Education Policy and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, equips teachers with practical strategies without requiring advanced infrastructure. The initiative also expanded learning opportunities through Auro Scholar, which enabled 2,400 students to attempt curriculum-linked quizzes, and through PBL, with 2,300 booklets distributed to encourage hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
In Gangtok, the response has been positive, with parents and educators showing growing interest in inclusive learning materials and PBL booklets. Stakeholders say such initiatives are gradually influencing demand for educational resources across the capital. Dr. Simmi Mahajan of Rupantar said, “Sikkim has shown how inclusion can be made practical and effective.” Zuventus HR head Shri Jayant Khanzode added, “The success of Project Inclusion reaffirms our belief in teacher-led transformation.”
