Two of the five accused in the Zubeen Garg death case today withdrew their bail petitions during the hearing of their pleas at the court of Sessions Judge Kamrup (Metro) in Guwahati. The court allowed Shyam Kanu Mahanta and Sandipon Garg to withdraw their bail petitions after their counsels filed separate prayers for withdrawal “due to certain developments and personal and legal reasons”. Zubeen’s wife Garima Garg also filed written objection against the bail petitions of other three accused — Amrit Prava Mahanta, Nandeswar Borah and Paresh Baishya. The Special Public Prosecutor also filed written objection against their bail petitions. The court fixed January 30 as the date for passing order on the bail petitions.
