The alarming surge in cardiovascular disease (CVD) cases among young adults in India has prompted Care Health Insurance to advocate for prioritizing health insurance. A report by The Lancet highlights that India’s age-standardized death rate due to CVD stands at 282 per 100,000—significantly above the global average of 233. Furthermore, the country’s disability-adjusted life years (DALY) rate due to CVD is 1.3 times higher than the global figure.
Mr. Ajay Shah, Head of Distribution at Care Health Insurance, emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive health coverage, stating, “Heart ailments are increasingly impacting young adults due to sedentary lifestyles, poor diets, and stress.” To combat this crisis, Care Health Insurance has launched its Care Heart plan, specifically designed for individuals with pre-existing heart conditions. This innovative product includes regular heart check-ups, coverage for hospitalization, and support for a heart-healthy lifestyle.
The rising awareness of health risks has led to an increasing demand for health insurance products that cater to young individuals. As the region grapples with lifestyle-related health issues, insurers are gearing up to meet the growing need for comprehensive health coverage, underscoring the vital role of health insurance in securing financial futures.
