The four-day State Level 20th Sub-Junior Boys’ and Girls’ and 21st Youth Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championship 2026 concluded on a positive note today at Rumbuk, bringing together young boxing talent from all parts of Sikkim. A total of 111 boxers, representing every district of the state, took part in the championship. Over the four days, the young boxers competed in different weight categories and age groups. The bouts were closely fought, with participants showing good discipline, fitness, and determination inside the ring. Coaches and officials noted the steady improvement in skills among the young boxers, reflecting the growing interest in boxing across the state.
The championship was organised by the Sikkim Youngsters Boxing Club, Rumbuk, which ensured smooth conduct of the event. Matches were held as per rules, with proper arrangements for referees, judges, and medical support. The event also provided a valuable platform for young boxers to gain experience and confidence at the state level. The concluding ceremony was attended by the Hon’ble Minister for Health, G.T. Dhungel, who graced the programme as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries, sports officials, coaches, and local residents were also present. The Minister appreciated the efforts of the organisers and encouraged young athletes to continue training with discipline and dedication.
At the end of the championship, Soreng District emerged as the Champion of Champions. The district’s boxers delivered strong performances across categories, earning top honours and standing out in the overall medal tally.
