WWF-India Presents Cutting-Edge Environmental Learning Resources at the Educators’ Conclave 2025 in Guwahati

WWF-India organized the Educators’ Conclave 2025 in Guwahati under the banner of its digital learning resource centre — One Planet Academy — offering teachers an opportunity to explore new, tech-enabled approaches that make classroom learning more effective and environmentally enriched.

A total of 106 participants from 56 schools across Assam and Meghalaya joined the event. Opening the conclave, Archita Baruah Bhattacharyya, State Director, WWF-India Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, said the presence of educators reaffirmed a shared commitment to shaping a future where humans live in harmony with nature. This year’s theme, “Raising Generation 30,” aligns with global targets such as the UN SDGs and the Global Biodiversity Framework 2030. The first session, “Decoding and Raising Generation 30,” was conducted by Dr. Narayan Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Biology and Wildlife Science, Cotton University. He urged teachers to rethink how schools should prepare students for the environmental challenges ahead. The second session, “A New Learning Ecosystem with One Planet Academy,” by educator Mita Nangia Goswami, demonstrated how the platform can support fun, interactive, student-friendly methods of environmental learning. Teachers were encouraged to explore simple activities, lesson ideas, and cross-subject links. A hands-on workshop titled “Embedding Environment in Lessons” was led by Neha Raghav, Director of Environment Education, WWF-India, New Delhi. Participants discussed strategies to nurture curiosity, confidence, and care for nature among students. Senior teachers, principals, and directors actively engaged in the discussions. WWF Assam advisory board members, including Prof. Ranjit Choudhury and former PCCF M.C. Malakar, also attended the programme. A key highlight of the conclave was the launch announcement of the One Planet Academy Awards, which will recognize outstanding efforts by schools and teachers in promoting environmental learning and sustainability. Chief guest Krishna Barua, Managing Director, Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, Assam, encouraged educators to become catalysts for nurturing nature-sensitive students. “The initiative of WWF and One Planet Academy will guide the next generation toward the right direction. Embrace the new to raise the new generation,” she said.
