With World Diabetes Day around the corner on November 14, health experts are urging Indians to include nutrient-rich foods such as California Almonds in their daily diet to help manage blood sugar levels. This year’s theme, “Diabetes in the Workplace,” highlights the need for awareness and supportive environments to manage diabetes effectively.
Almonds, rich in protein, unsaturated fats, dietary fiber, and 15 essential nutrients, are recommended for improving glucose control, particularly among people with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes. Studies led by Dr. Anoop Misra of Fortis-C-DOC, New Delhi, show that consuming almonds before meals significantly improves blood sugar regulation in Asian Indians with prediabetes and obesity. Nutritionist Sheela Krishnaswamy emphasized that starting the day with almonds can support satiety, energy levels, and reduce dependence on processed foods, while Max Healthcare’s Ritika Samaddar added that almonds help mitigate the blood sugar impact of carbohydrate-rich meals.
Local retailers report growing demand for California Almonds ahead of World Diabetes Day. Health-conscious consumers are increasingly seeking almonds as a daily snack and ingredient, with supermarkets and kirana stores witnessing a notable spike in purchases over the past month. Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan and Ayurveda expert Madhumitha Krishnan also highlighted almonds’ role in holistic health, stressing their value in balanced diets and lifestyle practices. Incorporating almonds daily is emerging as a simple, effective step toward better diabetes management nationwide.
