Women professionals lead India’s AI confidence at work, LinkedIn study shows

Women professionals in India are showing stronger confidence in using artificial intelligence (AI) tools at work than their male counterparts, according to new research released by LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network. The study found that 9 out of 10 working women in India (90%) feel confident using AI tools at work, compared to 86% of men. Women are also taking more initiative to strengthen their AI capabilities, with 35% actively learning AI skills to improve job prospects, compared to 29% of men.

The momentum is also visible among entrepreneurs. Women founders in India appear significantly more optimistic about business growth, with 78% expressing confidence in their companies’ future compared to 66% of male founders. Many women-led businesses are adopting AI-powered automation, smarter workflows and data-driven decision-making to scale operations and drive digital transformation.

Nirajita Banerjee, LinkedIn Career Expert and India Senior Managing Editor, said that while Indian women show strong confidence in using AI tools, overall female labour force participation in India remains relatively low at 28.1%. She noted that bridging the gap will require broader structural changes, though the growing adoption of AI skills among women is an encouraging sign for a more inclusive future of work. The trend is also visible in the Kolkata market, where women professionals across sectors such as IT services, digital marketing and start-ups are increasingly adopting AI tools to improve productivity and career prospects. Companies in the city are also encouraging employees to upskill in AI-driven technologies as businesses accelerate digital transformation.
