Within just 3 days WhatsApp’s new terms and privacy policy will be updated. Starting on May 15, the popular instant messaging app will change its privacy policy to gather more information about its users, including things like your time zone, IP address, location, and even information about what type of device you are using. In January of 2021, WhatsApp announced that it would update its privacy policy and share your info with Facebook and other Facebook companies, but due to mass confusion, the company decided to give users a few weeks to make a choice.
Now, what happened if you don’t agree with these new terms and conditions? Well, Facebook announced in an update to its FAQ page that if
you (a user) have not agreed to WhatsApp’s controversial new terms of service by 15 May, the app will begin to turn off features until you do. According to the company officials “After a few weeks of limited functionality, you won’t be able to receive incoming calls or notifications and WhatsApp will stop sending messages and calls to your phone”. At that point, users will have to choose: either they accept the new terms, or they are in effect prevented from using WhatsApp at all.
