The 4th T20 international between India and Australia to be played today (1st of December Friday) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh stadium in Chattisgarh’s capital city Raipur. But with few hours to go for the crucial match, the electricity supply has been cut off in parts of the stadium because the concerned authority failed to clear bills pending since 2009.
PWD and Sports Department have been sent several notices for clearing the pending bill which amounts to Rupees 3.16 crore. As per the sources it has been confirmed that the electricity supply at the stadium had been cut off around 5 years ago
A temporary connection was established at the request of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association, but not all the parts of the stadium will be benefited it will only cover the spectators’ gallery and boxes. The floodlights during the match today would need to be run by installing a generator.
The Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh (CSCS) which at present controls the stadium, said that there is no such payment that they owe to the electricity department.
