West Bengal’s Diptarko Bhattacharyya wins National Arithmetic Championship

Diptarko Bhattacharyya, a Grade 7 student from Chinsurah, West Bengal, emerged victorious in the National Arithmetic Championship, a prestigious speed math contest organized by Bhanzu, a global math learning platform founded by Neelakantha Bhanu, the World’s Fastest Human Calculator. The competition witnessed participation from over 6,000 students across 750 cities in India. Out of 300 finalists, Diptarko stood out by solving more than 200 questions in the final round. Expressing his excitement, he said, “The competition was an amazing experience. Practicing on the Bhanzu Play App and doing brain exercises helped me improve my speed. This win has inspired me to aim for more championships.”

His mother, Manasi Kundu, described it as a proud moment. “I was overjoyed to see Diptarko win. It will remain an inspiring memory for him,” she said. The championship tested students’ mathematical prowess in an intense, time-bound format. Over 180,000 questions were attempted, with more than 45,000 correct answers recorded. Neelakantha Bhanu lauded the participants, stating, “Champions aren’t born; they are made through rigorous practice. These young minds are training to build math confidence like never before.”

In Kolkata, the city has been a growing hub for math and STEM education, with parents increasingly enrolling their children in specialized programs like Bhanzu. The rising demand for competitive coaching in Kolkata reflects the city’s strong academic culture, positioning it as a key player in nurturing future math champions.
