Operations at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport were disrupted on Tuesday as at least 10 international flights were cancelled amid the escalating conflict in West Asia. Airport officials confirmed that five departures and five arrivals were called off, causing inconvenience to several passengers.
Major West Asian carriers, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, and Air Arabia, suspended services connecting Kolkata with key transit hubs such as Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi.
Emirates cancelled two arrival and two departure flights on the Dubai route. Qatar Airways suspended one arrival and one departure service to Doha. Etihad Airways called off one incoming and one outgoing flight to Abu Dhabi, while Air Arabia cancelled one arrival and one departure on the Abu Dhabi sector.
The cancellations followed a similar disruption on Monday, when at least 20 international flights were suspended at the Kolkata airport. Officials said airlines are continuously adjusting schedules in response to the ongoing military tensions involving Iran and the US-Israel alliance, which have impacted several airports and air corridors across West Asia.
Passengers traveling to and from transit hubs in the Gulf region were particularly affected, with many left stranded due to last-minute cancellations. Authorities have advised travelers to check directly with their respective airlines for updated schedules before heading to the airport.
At the national level, the ripple effect of the conflict has led to the cancellation of hundreds of international flights, especially those routed through major West Asian transit points. Airlines are closely monitoring the situation and may revise operations further depending on developments in the region.
The situation remains fluid, and further disruptions cannot be ruled out if tensions continue to escalate.
