The capital city is set to witness a spectacular cultural journey as the inaugural chapter of “Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav” unfolds at Rashtrapati Bhavan from February 8th to 11th, 2024. Hosted under the esteemed patronage of the Ministry of Development of Northeastern Region and managed through its CPSE, Northeastern Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Limited (NEHHDC), the event promises to be a vibrant celebration of Northeast India’s diverse heritage. Scheduled from 10 AM to 8 PM, the four-day extravaganza is part of Udyan Utsav 2024 and will showcase the rich tapestry of the region’s culture, arts, and culinary traditions. The event, inaugurated by the Hon’ble President of India and graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Minister of DoNER, Culture, and Tourism, aims to foster economic opportunities while celebrating India’s cultural diversity.
Highlighting the event’s significance, the first chapter of “Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav” focuses on honoring the Ashtalaxmi—the eight culturally rich states of the Northeastern Region. Over 320 weavers, artisans, farmers, and entrepreneurs will converge at the event, presenting their craftsmanship and agri-horticultural produce across eight dedicated stalls representing each state.
The Mahotsav will also feature captivating performances by 350 artists, showcasing traditional dances such as the Wangala Dance of Meghalaya, the Mungwanta Dance of Nagaland, and the Bihu Dance of Assam. Additionally, food stalls offering a diverse range of culinary delights will tantalize visitors’ taste buds, providing a culinary journey through Northeast India. Moreover, engaging activities like the Kids Activity Zone and Youth Engagement Zone will offer novel experiences while promoting awareness of the region’s historical and cultural heritage.
