Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) on Friday announced free international roaming on select postpaid, prepaid and enterprise plans, allowing eligible customers to stay connected across more than 170 countries while travelling overseas.
The telecom operator said the new offering, launched under its “Vi Pe Sab Hain VIP” brand promise, could help customers save up to Rs 9,000 a year on international roaming. Depending on the plan, users can access free roaming for up to three trips annually, with international data quotas and outgoing minutes varying by plan.
The move is aimed at simplifying overseas connectivity by eliminating the need for customers to purchase separate roaming packs, local SIMs or travel eSIMs. Vi said the service also allows travellers to retain their Indian mobile numbers and access services such as OTPs while abroad.
Eligible postpaid plans start at Rs 501, while the offering is also available with annual prepaid unlimited data plans and corporate plans starting at Rs 451 for enterprise customers. Activation can be completed through the Vi App by selecting the international Roam-Free plans.
Avneesh Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer, Vi, said the company was shifting international roaming from an additional purchase to a built-in benefit on key plans.
The proposition is being promoted through a new commercial featuring actor Shah Rukh Khan.
