Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched a baggage protection service for its postpaid customers availing International Roaming packs. In partnership with US-based Blue Ribbon Bags, Vi users can now claim compensation of ₹19,800 per bag if their luggage is lost or delayed beyond 96 hours of reporting. The service is available for an additional fee of ₹99. As global travel surges post-pandemic, concerns over baggage security remain high. A 2024 SITA report revealed that over 36 million bags were mishandled worldwide. Vi’s new initiative aims to offer relief to Indian travelers by ensuring compensation for misplaced luggage, enhancing customer experience beyond connectivity.
To activate the service, Vi postpaid users must register with Blue Ribbon Bags before their flight and report any baggage delay or loss within 24 hours of landing. If the airline fails to return the luggage within four days, compensation will be provided without any further inquiries. With increased overseas travel from the Northeast, Vi’s initiative could provide added confidence to passengers departing from Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
Vi’s International Roaming packs also include unlimited data and calls across 29 countries, incoming call benefits in over 122 countries, and 24/7 WhatsApp support. The company continues to innovate, ensuring seamless connectivity and additional travel-related benefits for its users.
