The Union Public Service Commission has opened the application window for the Engineering Services Examination 2027 to fill a total of 480 vacancies, with the final deadline to submit applications set for October 6. Aspirants must apply through the official website, upsconline.nic.in, keeping in mind that the preliminary exam will take place on January 31, 2027, followed by the main exam on June 18, 2027. Out of the total openings, 19 seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, which include 11 for locomotor disabilities like leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy, six for hard of hearing candidates, one for low vision, and one for those with specific learning disabilities and mental illness. The Commission’s online application portal consists of four modules, where the first three covering account creation, universal registration, and the common application form can be filled anytime, while the fourth examination-specific card must be completed during the notification window. Candidates must provide a valid email ID for all communications, and they are required to use only a black ballpoint pen on the OMR sheet since pencils, ink pens, or other pen colors are strictly barred. Any mistakes in encoding details like the Roll Number or Test Booklet Series Code can lead to rejection, and objective answers carry negative marking for errors. Strict electronic bans are in place inside the exam hall, prohibiting mobile phones, pagers, storage media, smartwatches, AI glasses, Bluetooth devices, and cameras, with violators facing disciplinary bans and no arrangements provided at venues for safekeeping bags or valuables. Furthermore, entry gates will shut permanently 30 minutes before each session begins with no exceptions allowed, and e-Admit Cards will be hosted on the official website on the final working day of the preceding week, except for those changing scribes seven days prior, who will receive theirs three days before the test.
