Under Project NAVYA, MSDE and Wadhwani Foundation collaborate to deliver holistic development modules for Adolescent Girls

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Wadhwani Foundation to deliver comprehensive employability and life-skills modules for adolescent girls under Project NAVYA. The programme is jointly implemented by MSDE and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD). The collaboration aims to move beyond traditional vocational training by embedding workplace safety, financial skills and critical life competencies into the learning journey of adolescent girls. A common holistic development module has been introduced for Project NAVYA beneficiaries and is being provided free of cost by the Wadhwani Foundation.

“These modules will equip adolescent girls with the confidence and capabilities required to succeed,” said Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, MSDE. “Project NAVYA reflects our commitment to holistic empowerment and dignified employment opportunities for women,” she added. In Guwahati, stakeholders say such skill-focused programmes could boost women’s participation in the northeast’s expanding service and retail sectors. With rising demand for trained staff in hospitality, banking and MSMEs in Guwahati, life-skills and financial literacy training are expected to increase employability among young women seeking opportunities in local markets.

The 10-hour online programme includes training on interpersonal skills, workplace safety, impactful writing, financial literacy and the use of productivity tools, with a focus on long-term employability and community participation.
