On February 11, Assam will begin a financial support program for research scientists, providing significant monthly aid to scholars pursuing higher education. Research scholars in the state will receive Rs 25,000 per month under the Atal Vichal Agragami Assam project. In order to provide comprehensive access to academic opportunities, scholars with disabilities would receive increased support of Rs 40,000 per month. The program was announced on social media by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who described it as an effort to improve the state’s research ecosystem. The program’s objectives are to promote innovation and intellectual growth among Assamese academics. The news coincides with another assistance initiative aimed at fresh grads.
The state will provide 2025 graduates Rs 2,500 every month for a year through the Jibonsathi Prerna initiative, which begins one day earlier on February 10. The program’s goal is to support young professionals financially as they transition into the workforce. While providing competitive assistance for all scholars, the varied financing structure acknowledges the extra difficulties faced by researchers with impairments. The program has been positioned by state officials as part of larger initiatives to support innovative research and retain academic talent in Assam’s higher education institutions. It is anticipated that information on eligibility requirements and application processes will be made public closer to the debut date.
